The past several months have been crazy busy for me. Between the release of my latest book in November 2021, I Spy A Crime: An Anthology, and my artwork, the time has flown.
Since May 2021, I have served on a Muncie Artists Guild (MAG) committee assigned with the task of developing an anniversary book commemorating our organization’s 70th anniversary. This is a huge project that not only depicts a historical account of the Guild but is also an opportunity to showcase our growing number of members and their artwork to our communities. All the artwork published in the book will be on display at this year’s annual MAG art show, July 24 – August 20, 2022.
The book will be sold at our annual show as well as in other businesses. Sale proceeds will go to support the Guild's Susie Burns Memorial Scholarship fund which is annually awarded to the recipient of the Muncie Young Artist Exhibition (YAE). MAG is proud to sponsor and promote the YAE exhibit which is open to high school upperclassmen, juniors or seniors, art students who reside in East Central Indiana.
More on the book and our art show closer to the July 2022 release date!
Since the book commemorates the Guild’s humble beginnings here in East Central Indiana, members were asked to create three pieces of artwork representative of their community/county of residency. I'm so proud to be involved in the creation of this book and to be counted among such a talented group of local artists!
These are my three entries. I don't describe myself as a landscape artist, so I have to question my sanity in selecting landscapes as my main entries. I'm committed to learning and growing my skills and have been exploring the how-to paint trees and other foliage for some time. Still, I have to admit that the two following paintings are out of my comfort zone.
Elisabeth Ball’s Log Cabin at Oakhurst is a 16" x 20" acrylic painting on canvas.
White River Bend at McCullough Park, is a 16" x 20" acrylic on canvas. This image of the White River may be seen from the Cardinal Greenway pedestrian bridge north of the Depot.
This is my third entry, Ball Jar Beyond Preserves, 6" x 8" acrylic on canvas.
I will be exhibiting my paintings at several locations in Muncie throughout the year. Please check out my Events page for details!!
